「more than one＋単数名詞は単数で呼応する」

よく覚えておきなさい→じぶん

more than one X ということは，直訳すれば「1つ以上」であり，いわんとする要点は「複数のX」ですので，動詞・助動詞とは複数で一致しそうなものですが，どうもそうではないのですね：

「more than one + 単数名詞」：単数動詞で呼応する．

(45) More than one writer is interested in the story.
（この話に関心を寄せている作家は一人にとどまらない）

「more than one of + 複数名詞」は，複数動詞で呼応する．
(46) Mixed etiology is when more than one of the above factors occur in a family.　(BNC)
（ある家族に上記の要因が一つ以上生じる場合は，病因は複合している）
